I love crafting with wire... it's easy and an inexpensive way to make unique gifts and home decor.
With Valentine's Day just around the corner, I thought it might be nice to have a feature on wire crafts and how you can use wire to craft so many decor and gift ideas - to make something whimsical or practical for someone you love.
You will find various gauges (thickness) of wire at your local Builders Warehouse and the only other tools that you need to work with wire are a pair or long-nose or needle-nose pliers, and perhaps a pair or cutting pliers - if the budget allows.
As you gain experience to craft projects with steel wire, you can spend a little more on jewellery wire to make your own jewellery and accessories. Copper and silver wire is reasonably inexpensive and you can use this to make bracelets and bangles, earrings and chokers.
When making wire jewellery for yourself or to make gifts you need to use a suitable wire, and memory wire is the most popular option for crafters. A roll of memory wire costs around R100, and you can make quite a few items from a single roll.
