Surprise Bedroom Makeover for Daughter

Home-Dzine reader, Candice and her husband, whose 11 year old daughter was away for 2 weeks during the December holidays, decided to suprise her daughter by giving her bedroom a makeover.

The original room was plain and boring and definitely needed some dressing up for a little tween.

The new bedroom included a headboard made with scraps of wood that I found in my backyard. I sewed new bedding, curtaining and scatter cushions to blend in with the colour of the new room and particularly enjoyed making the sequin and ribbon cushions for the bed - all made with love.

This was such an enjoyable project that not only distracted me from missing my baby too much, but was hugely rewarding! The end result was well worth all the hard work and effort.

I spent 2 weeks, day and night, behind my sewing machine. I made loose covers for two old chairs and slip covers for my wicker dining room chairs.

I had lots of fun playing with new colours and sewed many scatter cushions for the lounge. I even experimented with wall art – and it looks beautiful.
