West Elm goes South African
West Elm is a leading international furniture and decor store where I love to window shop from time to time (on the Internet). I use West Elm as a trend forceaster, as their range also lets me know what's going to be hot in the near future.

What a surprise to find that South African pieces are going to be on sale - and to South Africans as well!
Here are just a few of the items that will soon be available on West Elm.

Patterned paper. These intricate papier-mâché designs are the work of the HIV–positive artists of Cape Town based AIDS awareness nonprofit Wola Nani. Use them to bring playful pattern into your home office.

Set in the Cape Town suburb of Muizenberg, Potter’s Workshop is a collective of homegrown artists trained by years of apprenticeship. We worked with them to turn their signature bead-like patterns into this hand-painted Breakfast Set.

From the source. Husband-and-wife duo Trevyn and Julian McGowan of South African design studio Source blend traditional African design details into their collections. By exaggerating the lines of Cape Dutch-style shapes, they created this modern spin on traditional wood turnings.
