Packing is an essential task before moving to a new house. To make your life easy, it becomes necessary to start your work a month before your moving date. Collect clean boxes of different sizes from utility stores and supermarkets. To decrease rush, you must begin packing early. Here are some ideas to pack your belongings for relocation.

1. Gather Moving Boxes and Packing Supplies

You have to arrange moving boxes and packing items of different sizes. Make sure to purchase quality packing material and strong cartons or moving boxes. You should have the following packing supplies:

  • • Bubble wrap

    • Padding supplies

    • Wrapping sheets

    • Scissors

    • Blank newsprint paper and newspapers

    • Durable packing tape

    • Marking pens

    • Labeling stickers

To avoid possible issues, it is essential to create a moving file with necessary documents. These documents include:

• Reservation receipts of moving trucks

• Payment codes

• Veterinarian records for pets

• Cash for movers

• Contact information of property owner or realtor

• Hotel reservation

• Moreover, you have to prepare a separate folder for essential documents.

• A Box or Suitcase for Every Family Member

You have to pack a box or a suitcase for every family member in advance. This box must have soap, new toothpaste and toothbrush, washcloth, towel, and a disposable razor. Moreover, you have to keep relaxing clothes and two working clothes for each member.

Keep these suitcases or boxes in a secure place. They must not be mixed in everything. Feel free to bring them in your car to avoid the possibility of troubles.

2. Arrange Clothes for Padding

If you find it expensive to buy bubble wraps and packing peanuts, feel free to use old clothes as padding. It will be an excellent way to save money. Remember, clothes can be a better option over paper for their malleability. Use a separate sock for glassware and other similar things. It can protect them from damages.

3. Take Images of Complex Setups

Do you have a TV, computer or dishwasher with special setups? It can be difficult for you to remember everything. For this reason, you can take photos of these setups. These photographs will make your life easy when you try to reassemble them in your new house. Moreover, take phones of decorative setups and frame arrangements for your convenience.

4. Spacious Packing Space

You will need a wide-open station at your present house to drag and drop all the boxes. This space can make your packing process easy. Make sure to arrange a particular area in your home to manage packing materials, labels, tape, and pens. After packing each box, seal it securely with tape and prepare a special label for each box. The tags must contain details of content and the right place of the box. Moreover, number your boxes so that you can easily track if something is missing.

5. Label Boxes Appropriately

To make unpacking easy, you have to prepare special labels. Try to pack belongings of a room at a time. Carefully tape and mark every box to make unpacking easy. Labels must contain the name of the room so that movers can set up your belongings accordingly. It can save you time and decrease stress. For hardware, you will need Ziploc (double-thick) bags. For small things like remote controls, earplugs, and nails, you must have a separate box or a durable bag.

6. Avoid Packing Air

Wrap every item properly with sufficient wrapping sheets, clothes, or bubble wrap. Put everything in a box with special care to avoid possible damages. Always put heavy items on the bottom and keep lighter things on the top in your boxes. Try to pack maximum items in a box as per its capacity.

Choose small boxes for toys and books. Avoid overpacking boxes because these may become bulky and dangerous. For fragile items, you will need extra attention and care. Make sure to use extra bubble wraps or wrapping sheets. Saran wrap can protect your bottles. Moreover, cotton is necessary for fragile cosmetics. Feel free to use crushed papers or wadded newspaper to fill cartons or empty spaces.
